A Condor Visits Toronto

Teaser

At the center of a great empire, lies a great and powerful world. On this world, stands a great city, one of many. In the city, a great building rises to the sky. In the building, in an enormous room, stand two representatives of a great-unified power. One of them is quite small and pale. The other is large and powerful. The planet is named Cardassia. The small man is named Weyoun. He is just a simple representative of the great Dominion Empire. Demar the leader of the Cardassian Empire, stands beside him. Both leaders are focused on the words being spoken by someone else in the cavernous room with them. He is human. The human speaks treacherous words. He speaks treachery not against either of the great empires of the two gentlemen standing before him. His treachery is against his former province, known as the Federation.

"Calm down gentlemen." Came the cool voice of the human engulfed in darkness.

"Calm down? How do you expect us to calm down?" Came a sharp attack by the Vorta.

"I have some information that you might like Mr. Weyoun." The man in the darkness said in his cool, calm, collected voice.

"Tell us now. We are losing the war." Demar tried his best to take back control of the meeting. He knew he was losing control of Cardassia, and Weyoun was going to take over soon.

"I know of a new technology that might help the Dominion's cause. I can give it to you or I think the Rolumlans would like it as well." The man was enjoying this; he loved making them do tricks for their rewards.

"Just tell us." Weyoun screamed at him.

"Well Starfleet has come up with a new technology that allows member's of a ships crew to control many of the ships systems with a just a thought."

Weyoun's eyes lit up.

"Navigation, sensors, propulsion, medical. You name it, it can be controlled with a thought."

Demar leaned forward. "Weapons?"

"Yes weapons too." The man responded with hostility.

"A ship with that advantage would be nearly unstoppable. The response time" He was cut off by the man in darkness.

"The response time would increase by at least 10 fold," he leaned forward, revealing his face. Commander Chris Bean-Starfleets favorite trader-continued. "This new weapon is on board a science vessel, on a mission in the Norway sector. The closest Federation ship is 5 parsecs away."

Demar stood up. "I'll have two ships there in less than an hour."

"Sit down" Bean ordered. "You need the ship to be able to get the weapon you idiot. I have constructed a virus so that will disable the non-communing crew, and this virus will also implant Dominion Propaganda directly into their brain, and they will set a course for Cardassia."

Demar looked over. "What about the regular officers?" He asked in a cold tone.

"The virus will infiltrate the Life Support System. Only the crew with the communing chip able to function. Anyone who boards this vessel with out proper EVA suits will not be able to stay conscious."

"What ship is it?" Weyoun quietly demanded.

"The Ship registry is NCC 102868" he said with a small smile.

"I'll have Destroyer group 356 Alpha there in less than an hour." Demar said. "This is a glorious day for Cardassia", Weyoun looked up. "And the Dominion." Demar nodded.

With that, the three men left the room.

Harkness sat on the couch in his ready room. He was watching a hockey game.

"Gilmour cuts in across the ice, bang McSorley hit him hard." The commentator said in an excited tone.

"Clark comes across the line and hit's McSorley, wow this is some fight." Harkness eyes lit up as he watched the fight erupt on the screen.

The chimes to the door startled him, "come" he said to the air.

The doors parted as Dr. England walked in.

"Ah Michelle what can I do for you?" Charles asked in a cool voice.

"Captain, what the hell is this." She lifted a PADD she was holding.

"I see you have herd the new order's from Starfleet." He said with a smile.

"Yes I have, and I hate it. I am a doctor and the last thing I need to do is carry a phaser with me at all times." She was furious, and still standing.

"Well it is the new order. I don't like it but I am going to start." He said standing up and walked to his desk.

"I really don't care if there is an armed guard in Sick Bay, but if I have to wear the type II phaser while working on a patient, I might screw up." She did not give up.

"Ok, ok. You can were the type I phaser, but I cannot let you go unarmed. If we are boarded I don't want you or anyone else hurt if they don't have a phaser." He said trying to keep her happy.

She smiled, and she knew that she would have to leave it at that.

"Thank you sir," she said as she headed for the door.

Harkness laughed to him self when she left.

"Captain Harkness to the bridge please," came the soft voice of the Commander Larson.

He hit his COMM badge. "On my way" he said to the air.

On his way out he picked up his phaser and clipped it to his belt.

"Captain on deck" yelled the Marine assigned to guard the bridge, he was holding a phaser rifle and had a Type II phaser on his belt as well as 5 photon grenades clipped to his belt as well.

"What is it Commander," Harkness said as he took his seat.

Larson walked over to her position and took a seat. "Sir we just received a distress signal from the USS Condor."

Harkness looked over at Larson, with a worried face. He recognised the name Condor from his meeting with Admiral Varvaresos.

"On speakers"

The bridge went quiet as the speakers came on. "This is the USS Condor, registration NCC 102868 requesting immediate assistance."

The speakers cut off.

"Is that it?" Harkness said looking at Larson.

"Yes sir, it just repeats it self. And we have not been able to get them again." Larson said as she ran her fingers over the LCARS pad.

"How far away?" Asked the Captain in a worried voice.

"About 5 parsecs sir." Replied March from Ops.

"Plot a course Ensign, and engage at warp 8." Harkness said looking at Jenkins.

"Sir, it would be quicker to send in a squadron of Halifax's." Dubins said looking up from his computer console.

"Plot a course, and Jenkins get down to the launcher I want to you command the fleet."

She looked back with a smile on her face. "Aye, aye sir." She hit a few buttons and made her way to the Turbolift.

Harkness looked over at March. "Zavi, where's the Los Angeles?"

Without looking up from his console. "She is doing a patrol at the border, it would take her about 5 hours to get to the condor."

"Red Alert. All Hands Battle stations!" Harkness yelled. The lights dimmed as the flashing red lights started to flash. "Engage" Harkness ordered in a commanding voice.

The Halifax's ships flew around the Toronto a jumped into warp. The Toronto slowly turned and the nacelles moved into place as she went to warp.

End Teaser.

Act 1

"What's our ETA to the Condor?" Harkness asked, he was a bit nervous for the young captain.

"1 hour, 15 minutes sir." Replied the Ops officer.

"Anything from the attack fleet, Colonel?" Harkness asked turning towards the giant Marine.

"Last report said they were about to engage the Cardassian's." Dubins said looking at his Captain.

Ensign Kristina Jenkins was running her hands over the computer console operating the small fighter.

"Black Night 5-10 cover my tail. The rest go after the second destroyer." She yelled into the microphone.

"Sergeant Doody, increase power to the Phasers. I am going in for another run." She yelled back at her Engineer.

Her Fighter flew in and fired it's phasers at the destroyer, 4 other ships came in behind and did the same. Jenkins ship looped back a fired a volley of Torpedoes, they penetrated the shields of the massive ship and compromised the hull. The ship rolled over and finally buckled, the debris flew from gaping hole, till the middle of the finally the ship gave in and folded over.

The second Cardassian ship pulled back and locked a Tractor beam on the Condor.

"Jenkins to Black Night's were going in. Attack pattern Jenkins-Alpha-One-Seven-Zero-tango." She yelled to the fleet.

All the ships acknowledged. "Execute." She ordered.

The ships regrouped behind her fighter and came in a pyramid formation; none of the ships were each other's firing line. Jenkins ship pulled a loop, the rest followed. She opens fire with a volley of Photon Torpedoes. They hit the shields and did not anything to the ship. Each ship fired a volley, they merle bounced off the shields.

"Crap, Jenkins to fleet. Lock Phasers on the source of the Tractor beam" she yelled.

The Condor lay in space only thing preventing it from moving was the beam. The Cardassia ship tried to maneuver, but the condor made it difficult to do so. Jenkins ship led the formation over the condor and fired their phasers. The first few hits bounced of the shields. The Cardassian ship returned fire with its phasers. The beams bounced of the shields of Jenkins ship, and went past her. The ship on her port wing was not so lucky, the first phaser blast knocked her shields out and next destroyed her, and the ship to her stern flew into the debris and was damaged. Jenkins ship fired a volley of photons. The first 2 opened a hole in the shields; the second 2 struck the hull and knocked out the tractor beam. The Condor was suddenly let go of the grasp of the Crdassian's. She spun around in space. Nothing to stop her.

Jenkins console lit up as her sensor picked up the Condor.

"Jenkins to Black Night 13. Lock a tractor beam on the Condor." She ordered.

"Jenkins to rest of the fleet. Attack Pattern gamma-two-four-eight. Engage."

The fleet circled around the Cardassian ship. Jenkins ship opened fire with a volley of torpedoes. The rest of the ships followed suit. The Cardassian ship was out numbered and out gunned. She made a valiant attempt to try and fend off the attackers. Like an animal that was injured, she fought. Fired off a few torpedoes which hit one ship, her shields were more than enough to protect the hull. Finally Jenkins ship fired 8 torpedoes that went through the hole that was opened earlier when they destroyed the tractor beam. They hit the hull, which was compromised. A big gaping hole was ripped on the port side. The ship rolled over, and with a bright flash erupted into a giant fireball, she was gone.

Jenkins leaned back and smiled.

"Good work people" she said to the rest of the fleet.

"Ok, everyone check in." She ordered.

"Black Night 2 here," "Black night 6 here" "Black Night 8 here" "Black Night 15 here" "Black Night 16". The Comm system replied.

"Only 5 of us survived. Shit." She was annoyed that 45 people died under her command. She then turned her attention to the Condor.

She hit a few buttons and opened a channel to the Condor.

"USS Condor, this Ensign Kristina Jenkins of the Federation Starship Toronto, are you in need of assistance?"

The only reply she got was one of static.

"Condor, please come in." A worried look shot across her face.

"Damn" she cursed to the air.

She ran a scan on the ship, it showed nothing wrong. All crewmembers were accounted for.

"Jenkins to black nights, prepare for an away mission. Phaser rifles and type II phasers to each team member. Let's beam in at the Main Bridge. Jenkins out." She said as she moved her fighter into Transporter range.

Jenkins and 3 other marines materialized. Each team member was holding a phaser rifle and had a second type II phaser clipped to their belts.

The Bridge was dark, and there was soot marks on the walls.

"Hello" Jenkins called out.

It was very dark; the only sound was the groups breathing.

She took out a light and shone it on the Captain's Chair. The light revealed Captain Reming and his First officer being held at phaser point.

"Thank you very much Ensign Jenkins, and let me welcome you to the Condor. Would you please throw all your weapons on the floor and put your hands on your heads." Said the man holding a phaser at the Captain of the Condor. "I might remind you, if you don't both captain Reming and Commander Parks will die." He said with force. Jenkins looked back at her group and dropped her Phaser Rifle to the ground; the rest did the same.

End act 1.

Act 2

"Thank you very much, and let me welcome you to the Condor. Would you

Please throw all your weapons on the floor and put your hands on your

Heads." Said Smith. "I might remind you if you don't, both Captain Reming

And Commander Reed will die." He said with a force in his voice Reming had

Never noticed before.

The woman looked back at her group and dropped her Phaser rifle to the

Ground; the rest did the same.

"The element of surprise." Smith said to Parks. He looked up. "Computer:

Lights on." In seconds the lights returned to their normal intensity.

Parks handed his phaser to Smith before walking over and scooping up the

Phaser Rifles. He handed one to Smith while he kept another. Parks tossed

The other aside.

"Hello, ma'am." Said Reming with a small wave. "You must be from the

Toronto."

"Yes sir, I'm Ensign Jenkins. You're the Captain of the Condor?"

"Yes I am, or I was as of a few minutes ago."

Parks pushed his glasses up with the butt of his phaser rifle. "Look, I'll

Do the introductions, okay? This is Commander Reed here." Reed gave a

Short nod in Jenkins' direction. "And that's Captain Reming there. My

Partner with the phaser riffle to the Captain's head is Ensign Smith. My

Name is Lieutenant Commander Michael Parks."

"Look Mr. Parks. I think you should know that there are several marines

Positioned on every deck, so you are not going anywhere." Said Jenkins.

Parks looked back with a smile. "Just try to contact them."

As Jenkins went to move her hand, Smith fired his riffle. This shot

Managed to Miss Jenkins, hitting the wall behind her.

Parks looked over at Smith. "What the hell are you doing?" He yelled.

"I told them not to move their arms."

Parks looked up in desperation. "Damn it, I just told her she could call."

Smith glared at Parks. "Well, I'm sorry. How am I supposed to know she's

Allowed to mover her arms now. Why don't you try thinking a little louder?

Next time. What do you think I am, a mind reader?"

Parks was beginning to lose what little patients he had left. "How's she

Supposed to call without moving her arm to her comm. badge?"

Jenkins knew the situation was beginning to spin out of control. She

Decided to use her expert diplomatic skills to gain control of the

Situation. "Would you two just shut up!" She yelled. Her wish was granted.

The room fell silent.

"I am now moving my hand slowly." Sighed Jenkins as she moved her hand to

Her comm. badge. "Team 2 come in." There was no response. "Team 3 come

In." Still, there was no answer. "Any Black Night, if you can hear me,

Please respond."

"I can hear you sir." Said one of the marines standing next to Jenkins.

His buddy slapped him and mouthed him to shut up. Jenkins never looked

Back.

"What have you done to them?" She asked in an annoyed tone.

Parks looked back at her with a smile. "Why not send one of your men to

Check?"

Jenkins looked back at the marine to her left. "Go check out Engineering."

The marine gave her a quick salute and ran to the Turbolift. As he left,

Jenkins turned her attention back to Smith and Parks.

Parks stared back at her. "Look ensign, we are taking this ship to the

Cardassian Empire, we are defecting to the other side."

Jenkins replied in a cool calm voice. "No I don't think so. Why don't you?

Put your rifle's down and we can talk about this."

"I like that idea." Reming agreed

"Yeah, me too." Said Reed in a calm voice.

Smith swung his phaser in Jenkins' direction. "Look miss bad-ass, why

Don't you go back to your little ship, what is it called again - the

Toronto - And leave us alone."

Jenkins moved a few steps closer to Smith. "I see you have no idea what

The Toronto is, you stupid shit."

"Great job, Smith. Now you've made her Mad.," yelled Parks.

Seconds later, all were distracted by the image of a massive Battleship

Displayed on the view screen. Both Parks and Smith looked up at the screen with awe. Jenkins knew this was her one chance. She whacked the Phaser

Rifle out of Smith's hands with a single smack of her hand. He fell back a

few strides. The marine behind Jenkins picked up the rifle and fired a

shot at Parks, hitting him. But, before Parks fell to the ground, he

managed to get a shot off, hitting the marine.

Smith picked up the phaser riffle discarded earlier and pointed it at

Reming. "Move one step and Captain Reming is dead. Now drop the rifle." He

demanded. Jenkins stopped dead in mid stride.

Reming knew he had to do something. He tried to think of some way to

distract Smith. Finally, he thought of something. "Hey, what's that on

your arm, Nick?" He said.

Smith looked at his arm. "What? Where?"

Jenkins didn't hesitate. She moved in and kicked Smith in the back. The

force of the kick loosened Smith grasp of his riffle. He spun around and

took a swing at Jenkins. She blocked it, then grabbed his arm and through

him over her shoulder. He hit the deck hard enough to knock him

unconscious.

Reed walked over to the marine that was hit. "Well?" Jenkins asked.

"He'll be okay, he's just stunned." Answered Reed.

"Toronto to Jenkins, please come in." Came the voice of Captain Harkness,

Captain of the USS Toronto.

"Jenkins here sir. Everything is under control. Five to transport."

End Act 2

Act 3

Captains Log: Stardate 50025.5.

We have taken the USS Condor in tow. We are continuing our investigation into the Mutiny aboard the small science vessel. Dr. England reports that Private Stidham will make a recovery. I am meeting Captain Reming and his first officer in a few minutes.

Harkness hit the button on the PADD to end the recording.

Harkness moved over to the couch and sat down. He looked up as the door chime went off. "Come," he said to the air.

Captain Reming and Command Reed walked in. "Ah Captain Reming, Command Reed, please take a seat." Harkness said to his guests.

"Thank you sir," Reming said with a smile.

Harkness walked over to the replecator, "would you like anything to drink?" He asked.

"Yes thank you. A root beer would be nice." Reming said. Harkness noticed how immature a drink like Root Beer is, Reed looked up. "No thank you sir." She said.

"Computer: one Labatt blue, and one" he stop for a second and looked back at his guests, "and one root beer." The replecator hummed as the two drinks appeared.

Harkness picked up the black drink and gave it to Reming.

"So is there anything you can tell me about what happened aboard your ship today, Captain?" Harkness asked the young man.

"No sir," he said looking up from his drink.

Harkness turned to Reed. "Commander?"

"Well sir, we were doing a survey mission in the Norway sector, and were heading back to space dock and deliver our results. 2 Cardassian Galore Class Destroyers then attacked us, we managed to fire off a few volleys of Quantum Torpedoes, but their shields were too strong. Thank God the Toronto was able to dispatch the Halifax's." She said with a smile.

"No Problem Commander. But what about the Mutiny?"

"Well sir," Reming started, "the commander of the Cardassian ship, told us that the Condor had something that the Dominion wanted. I have no idea what that would be" he said.

"What about the communing chip?" Harkness asked.

Reed raised her eyebrow. "Sir with all due respect, how do you know about that part of the ship." She asked in a surprised voice.

"Well Admiral Varvaresos briefed my self and First Officer, before we left space dock." He said, he then took a sip from his beer.

"Ah, they tell you, and don't tell me." Reming said under his breathe-or so he thought-, Harkness looked over at the young officer.

"Son, how old are you?" Harkness asked.

"Sir I am 28, why do you ask?" He looked at the older man.

"Why are you in command of a ship if you are only 28?" Harkness knew he was young, but not that young.

"I have no idea sir, they just gave it to me, and didn't tell me about anything on board. I had to do my own investigation." He said with a smile.

"Bridge to Captain." Zavi March called over the Comm system.

"Harkness here," Charles said to the air.

"Sir, the USS Los Angles has docked. And Captain Ryan would like to have a word with you in a few minutes."

"Tell him, I'll be with him in a few minutes. Harkness out." He hit the Comm badge ending the transmission.

"Well what do you suggest Captain Reming." Harkness said to the young Captain.

"Uh?" was all he could get out. "Sir, I suggest we get Dr. Tedmore back so he can work on a way to make Ensign Smith, and Commander Parks, normal again." Said Commander Reed trying to save her Captains' ass.

"Very well, Captain you will lead the away mission." Harkness ordered.

As he said that the Red Alert klaxons started to go off.

Harkness jumped up from the couch, and ran for the door. Reming and Reed just stood there and looked at each other.

Harkness came running out of the Ready Room. "Report" he ordered. March got out of the Command chair. "Sir, Ensign Smith, and Commander Parks have escaped from the Brig, and are trying to get to the Transporter room, or the Galaxy bay." He said.

"Zavi you have the Bridge, Reming, Reed you're with me. Reed, Grab 3 rifles from the locker." Reed ran over to the locker-which was on the far end of the bridge-Harkness and Reming got into the Turbo lift. Reed joined them.

"Deck 102" the doors to the turbo lift closed.

* * *

The Turbolift came to halt, as the doors slip open, Harkness made sure his phaser rifle was fully charged. The hallway was dark; the lights had overloaded with all the phaser fire. The air stank of sweat and blood. The walls were scorched from phaser blasts.

Harkness looked back at his small team-Captain Reming, and Commander Reed- they looked nervous, Reming was sweating like hell, but his First Officer looked cool, clam and collected-like she had been in battle many a time. It was like slow motion, as a single shot from a phaser rifle flew through the air. Harkness grabbed Reming and Reed and dove out of the way. It hit the wall in slow motion, the shell the protected the lethal energy, exploded, the energy released in a brilliant flash. Then it all went back to normal speed. Several shots came from one end of the hall, then 3 shots from the other, Harkness, Reming, and Reed were in a cross fire. Their only haven was the Turbolift, but it had closed moments later, and they all knew-well maybe Reming did not know-that they could not stay here for long.

Harkness looked at both sides.

"Follow me" he yelled to Reming and Reed.

They both nodded.

Harkness charged for the side with the most heads sticking out over the make shift barricade.

Harkness yelled as he jumped over the hurdle. Both Reed and Reming also made it.

Harkness took a second to catch his breath, "whose in command here" he asked to the nearest marine.

"Lt. Schlag over there sir." He pointed to a young woman. She was firing towards the enemy side.

"Lt." Harkness called to her. She looked back, and was ready to bite off whose ever head was calling her during the battle. When she realized it was Captain Harkness she softened her facial features.

"Yes sir." She said.

"Report" he ordered.

"Well sir, it ain't good," Marines were taught how to fight and how to kill, not proper grammar. "We have taken heavy losses, about 10 wounded, 24 dead, and yet all our shots seem to miss. The phaser beams just change course when they get close to them. It is odd."

"Very well." Harkness crawled back to Reming and Reed.

"It looks like your guys are very lucky today, they cannot be hit, watch."

Harkness got up so only his head was above the barrier. He took aim at Parks and fired a single shot. It flew towards him and finally banked to the right and hit the wall.

Harkness thought for a second.

"Cease fire." He yelled to the marines.

With in a few seconds the hall went quiet as all the firing stopped.

He hit his COMM badge.

"Harkness to Bridge, place a level 10 force field around the doors to the Galaxy Bay door and Transporter room."

"Yes sir" the air responded.

There was a slight hum as the force fields popped into place.

"Captain" yelled Lt. Schlag, "they're moving."

"What?" Harkness was confused, "where too Lt."

"Their gone sir, I lost contact." She said with remorse-a emotion that Harkness believed that no marine had.

"Bridge to Captain," his COMM badge called.

"What." He snapped to the air.

"The LA has just left dock sir."

The air went quiet.

"SHIT." Was the only thing Harkness could say.

End Act 3

Act 4

Harkness, Reming and Reed were in the Turbolift heading for the bridge, the alert light was flashing, and the panel behind Harkness showed where they were on the massive ship.

They all had to grab something as the deck rocked.

"What" Reming said as he nearly fell; the sweat was running off his face, Harkness noted that most men after their first encounter with combat were on an adrenaline high, but Reming was scared shitless. Captain Harkness figured that Reming would be one of though people who leave life the same way they came in, covered in blood and screaming. Commander Reed on the other hand was in love with Combat, the total opposite of her Captain.

The Turbolift came to a halt and the doors opened.

"Report," Harkness ordered as he walked over to his seat.

Larson looked up from her position. "Sir the LA has set a course for the Border at maximum warp. We are in pursuit we are only able to get to warp 9.4, she is going 9.8"

Harkness looked over with puzzlement, "why can't we match?"

Commander March looked up from his console.

"They fired a couple of Quantum Torps. At us and damaged the lower port nacelle. Were lucky we got up to this speed."

The Captain mouthed a curse. He realized that they were fired at but did not think that would cause them enough damage.

Harkness looked over at Dubins. "Colonel, scramble the Wild Cards and the Argos." Dubins did not hesitate; he ran his fingers over the console. "Away sir" he said looking at his Captain.

"Tell them to disable the LA. And Good hunting" Dubins nodded.

He looked towards the CONN. "Ensign, bring us about, and set a course back to the Condor, warp nine."

"Aye Sir." She replied.

The Toronto pulled around, and turned back on a reverse heading.

The Fighters flew in a lose formation. At the lead of the Wild Cards was Captain Schlag; the leader of the Argos was Captain Clemens.

"ETA to LA 3.5 minutes" Captain Schlag announced to her fighters. "Once we enter firing rage try and take out the nacelles, and then concentrate on the weapons systems." She ordered into the Microphone. She looked up to her display, which showed all the systems of the LA, she ordered the computer to lock on to the warp core. Just then her console started to beep. A Quantum Torpedo had locked on to her tiny ship. "All ships evasive maneuvers. Open FIRE!" She yelled.

The ships moved in, photon torpedoes ablaze. The LA attacked back with quantum torpedoes. The Galaxy Class starship's shields took a lot punishment, but still stayed up. The ships flew in for another pass, still firing the photons. Finally a small hole started to open in the shields above the port nacelle.

Schlag ran her fingers over the controls with grace. "Ok people we got a hole, concentrate all fire there," she ordered to the marines.

The ships regrouped and flew towards the damaged nacelle. Even though the Los Angles was injured, she still fought. She fired a volley of Quantum torpedoes, which destroyed Captain Schlags ship. This only made the marines even more pissed off. They flew in a fired volley after volley of photons. Finally one broke though the armor. The LA turned to starboard and dropped out of warp.

* * *

Captain Harkness was sitting in the command chair reading some reports. Commander Larson was at her post doing a scan. Dubins was at the back panel talking a marine.

"Captain" March called from the Ops panel.

"Yes, Commander" replied, he looking up from the PADD.

"The APC just left."

Harkness stood and walked over to Ops.

Larson looked up. "Sir, we are getting a message from the Attack Group: They have disabled the LA."

Harkness smiled. "Helm, set a course for LA, maximum warp. March, drop a buoy." Both stations acknowledged the orders.

"Red Alert, Engage!" Harkness ordered.

The Toronto pulled around the jumped back into warp.

Jenkins was at the controls of the APC. The cockpit was bigger than the Halifax-2 seats instead of 1. Dr. England walked in from behind.

"Sir, we just received single from the Toronto, they have set course for the LA. I have plotted a course to intercept. Shall I inform Captain Reming and Commander Reed." Michelle took a seat beside her.

"At ease Ensign. No I'll let them know once they stop talking."

Jenkins looked at the Dr. she forgot to give the order to get underway.

"Sir? The Toronto?" England looked back with a dumb look. Then a light went off in her head. This was her first time giving a command to go somewhere. "Engage" she ordered, with a smile.

They both looked out as the stars turned a colourful mixture, then they just stretched out and passed by calmly.

The young pilot hit a button and put the ship on auto-pilot, and turned to face the Doctor.

"Doctor England, do you have any idea what the hell they are talking about with the communing chip?"

Michelle let out a sigh, and turned to her young pilot. "Well ensign, when I worked at Starfleet Med. there was a rumor that there was an experiment dealing with hooking a computer directly to the brain. The user could control parts of a ship with a thought. We were all told it was just a rumor, and not to think anymore of it, I guess they lied to us." She looked around. "Isn't there a Replecator on this ship?"

Jenkins was thinking. "No ma'am, this is used only for Marine operations. Drop in's and eva's. And isn't there some sort of oath you doctors take, saying you won't do anything like that?"

England just shook her head. "Nope."

* * *

"Report!" Harkness yelled over the alert klaxons.

"The LA just fired a couple of Quantum Torpedoes at us. Shields holding at 88%" Larson replied.

"Attack Pattern Omega 3. Ready phasers and quantum torpedoes. Execute."

The Toronto pulled in behind the Galaxy Class Starship. Phasers firing at will. The beams just bounced off their shields. The marine fighters flew in formation around the 2 battleships.

The Bridge rocked as a volley of quantum torpedoes hit the shields.

"Larson fire torpedoes." Harkness said in a cool, collected voice.

"Sir," March called from his post as the console next to him exploded throwing the officer across the bridge. "The mantis just dropped out of warp. They are asking for clearance to dock. They report that they have recovered Dr. Tedmore."

Harkness smiled when he heard that news. It just might be the one thing that turned out ok on this mission.

"Harkness to Mantis. You are clear to dock on the port side bay. Make it fast, Jenkins. A wing from The Wild Cards will escort you in. Good work."

As he said that, the explosions were drowned out by the call from the LA. "This is the USS Los Angles, we are defecting from the Federation, to the Dominion. We come in peace, and are in need off assistance. We are under attack from a Federation Battleship."

"Shit. No you don't" Harkness yelled. "Bring us around and fire at will."

The Toronto turned on its axis, as the APC entered the bay. Firing phasers and torpedoes. The LA pulled away from the onslaught from the Toronto. Plasma coming out of the port nacelle.

"Sir, she is trying to get behind us," yelled March.

"Let them, ready phaser cannons." Harkness yelled back.

"Ready sir." Larson replied to the order.

The LA pulled in behind firing phasers from the main ring on the Saucer section. The beams just hit the shields. In between the 2 lower nacelles on the Toronto two cannons popped up, and opened fire. The Phaser pulses flew back at the LA, the rapid fire was enough to penetrate the shields, and the energy pulses hit the hull and tore a hole in it. The LA pulled back, and turned her attention towards the tiny attack ships. With her phasers firing at will, she tore through the little ships. All they could do was regroup. Twenty-Five went in, five came back.

"Commander Larson, load Tri-Colbalt devises, get ready to fire a full spread. But first, target their impulse engines and fire 5 quantum torpedoes." Larson nodded as she did her orders.

The screen showed the burst of Phaser fire, and then 5 blue stars fly in the shields. The LA shuddered as the Quantum Torpedoes exploded, and came to a stop.

"Ready the devises." The Captain looked down. He did not care if he killed a few ex-Starfleet officers.

"Ready sir." Larson said, as her finger hovered over the firing trigger.

"Fi?" Harkness was cut off by the voice of Captain Reming.

"No, don't. We are close to an answer." He said from behind.

"Look, I am going to end this now. I am in command of this ship, and what I say goes. Now SHUT THE FUCK UP." Harkness yelled back the little man.

"Charles, we are close." Dr. England said in her soft voice.

Harkness started to rub his hair. "Fine, you got 10 minutes. Then I blow them to hell and back. Got it." Reming yelled back from the Turbolift, "yes sir."

"Captain" March said from ops. "There are about 10 Jem'Hadar ships on an intercept course. They are going to be here in 23 minutes."

"I know Commander. Jenkins, back us out of Weapons range of the LA." Harkness looked around, and hit his Comm Badge. "Bridge to Engineering, Lefler, transfer all available power to the shields. We are going to be here a while."

"Aye, Sir." Replied the air.

Harkness took his seat. "We are going to be here a while" he said under his breathe.

End Act 4

Act 5

Dr. England and Dr. Tedmore were working furiously to come up with a cure to the virus that infected the members of the Condor. Captain Reming and Commander Reed were standing at the back of the Science Room. Still trying to comprehend how big the Toronto was.

"What if, we tried to heat it out, like a fever?" Michelle asked, she knew she was drawing at straws, but it was the best she could think of.

"Won't work, it's a computer virus, not a cold." Tedmore snapped back at her.

Dr. England fell back on to a bio-bed. "We've tried everything. Why not just let Captain Harkness blow them to hell?" She said to the jackass that she had to work with.

"You know why, Lt. England. I have put many years into this project and I am not ready to kill them." He yelled back at her.

Michelle pulled herself up and looked over the readings on the screen.

"Wait a minute. At the frequency the virus is at, we should be able to block it out with a focused Gamma Radiation on the LA."

Tedmoore looked up. "No it won't work. What we need is a anti-virus." A little light went off in everyone's head, except for Reming. "YES" Michelle screamed out. "We can do it." Reed said with excitement. Reming then figured out what they were talking about. And started to cheer a bit, but was cut off by the COMM system.

"Your 10 minutes is up."

"Captain we got a plan, just give us another 5 minutes to get it ready."

"You've got 2 minutes. Bridge out."

Captain Harkness sat back down in his Command Chair.

"Captain. The first Jem'Hadar ships will be here in 4 minutes." Commander March reminded him.

"Yes I know Commander." Harkness turned to his Second officer.

"Dubins, scramble as many fighters as you can. Tell them to take position 5 million km from us."

The Colonel nodded as he ran his fingers over the controls.

"Reming, your 2 minutes is up." Harkness yelled to the air.

"They've done it. Tedmoore and England have successfully constructed a counter-virus to the one infecting our people on the LA, " answered a winded Reming.

.

The party in the Turbolift walked over to the Engineering controls.

"What the hell are you doing?" Harkness asked in an annoyed tone.

"We needed to think of a way to transmit the counter-virus. We couldn't just hand it to them. We had to think of a way to sneak it over. We agreed that Ensign Smith and Lieutenant Parks are most likely communing with the LA's systems and Parks is most assuredly running the sensors, constantly scanning the Toronto."

"Cut to the chase, Commander..." Harkness begged.

"We plan to transmit the counter-virus to the LA using the Toronto's main deflector dish. The signal from the disk will be intercepted by the LA's sensor array. Since Parks is running the sensors, he should be the first one to pick it up,"

Harkness pointed an unsure finger at Reming. "But that just takes care of Parks, what about..."

"I believe all communing chip crewmembers are telepathically linked," shouted Tedmoore from across the bridge. "The virus should trickle down to each one, eventually returning them all to the state they were prior to the Cardassian virus infection," Tedmoore added while gripping the console to keep his balance against yet another torpedo hit.

"I hope this works," said Harkness, nervously.

"We should know any second. Sending the counter-virus...now."

"Aye sir."

The deflector of the Toronto, sprung to life from its static state. A green energy beam came out of it, and struck the LA directly on the bridge of the crippled warship.

The entire bridge crew watched as the green light stopped, not knowing what will happen.

The LA came in for another pass by, and fired a single phaser beam, which missed the Toronto completely. She came to a stop and just hung there in space.

Reming, Reed, Tedmoore, England, and the rest of the bridge crew were smiling.

"Captain, you can beam them directly to sick bay." Came the cool voice of Dr. England.

Harkness looked over to March, and nodded.

"They're on" March said with a sigh of relief.

Harkness hit a button on his right console. "All marine craft. BUG OUT!" He yelled.

"Commander Larson, lock Tri-Colbalt torpedoes on target, fire when ready."

"Aye sir."

5 white torpedoes came from the Toronto's weapon bays. Flew in and struck the LA. The explosion was enough to separate the saucer section, but it was vaporized when the warp core overloaded.

Harkness smiled as the Galaxy class vessel was destroyed.

"Jenkins set course 147 Mark 234, warp 8. Engage."

The deck shuddered as the massive vessel went to warp

Captains Log: Supplemental.

We have picked up the USS Condor, and are en-route to Starbase 35, where we are going to drop off the Condor, so she can under go repairs. As for the Toronto, I am pleased to announce that we took only superficial Damage, and will only need a few days at the facilities at Starbase 35.

I have also heard some great news for our Ensign Jenkins and Dr. England, they have both been sited for honour and valour and will both be given a promotion. Ensign ER? I mean Lt. Jenkins and Dr. England will both hear the news at the party this afternoon. Till then I am have a talk to with Captain Reming. I feel I have miss judged him, and owe him an apology. End log.

Charles sat back in his seat. The Stars were flying past the window to his Ready Room. He took a second to reflect upon what had just happened, and decided that his crew performed above and beyond the call of their duties. He looked up as the door chimed.

"Yes, come in," Harkness said to the air.

Captain Reming walked in. "Captain Harkness, you wanted to see me?" He said in a nervous tone.

The young captain stood at attention in front of Charles.

"Take a seat," Harkness pointed to the seats in front of his desk.

Charles continued as Reming sat down. "So captain, so how did you like your first taste of battle?" He asked in a joking manner.

Reming shifted in his seat, "well, it was interesting."

Harkness noticed that he was a little uncomfortable with that subject.

"Are you ok Captain?" Charles asked.

"Well Captain, I've never had so many people die. All because I let the Cardassians plant that virus." His eyes started to water a bit.

"Captain, Phillip, it comes with the 4 pips and the seat. We all lose people under our command. There was nothing you could have done. The Condor is a science vessel, you were no match to the Cardassians." Charles tried to reassure the young captain.

"Does it get any easier?" He asked trying not to cry.

"Nope. My last CO told me once that you only need two things for command. One: A strong stomach, Two: A bottle of scotch, or whiskey. I know you like the Root Beer, but you're a Captain, not an ensign." Charles stood, and walked to the Replecator.

"Here's a drink, that my brother got me on a few years ago. Not very strong." He turned towards the Replecator. "Computer: 2 Labatt Blues." The computer hummed as the 2 beverages appeared.

Charles handed one to his guest.

"Take a sip" he said with a smile.

Reming brought the gold drink to his mouth, and took a sip.

Charles smiled as Reming coughed.

"Umm? I think I can get used to it." He said with a smile.

"Lets get to the party," Charles said with a smile, and placed the empty mug on the table.

Reming smiled and walked out the door.

"Oh shit, I need to get something from my quarters, I'll meet you at the sky dome. It's on deck 45 Section Blue-Alpha-36." Charles said.

"I think I can find it." Reming said in a tough tone.

Harkness smiled and walked to another Turbolift. Got in and the doors shut.

Charles walked into the Sky Dome. He felt the best way to remember men and women whom had fallen, was to party. There was also reason to celebrate because of the promotions that were being handed out.

Harkness looked over and saw his command staff talking with Commander Reed and Dr. Tedmoore at the bar.

He walked over, "Ah Dr. Tedmoore it's nice to see you again." The Captain said shaking his hand.

"Like wise sir." The good Doctor returned the greeting.

Commander Reed turned to the Captain.

"Captain Harkness. Isn't Captain Reming with you?" She asked in a concerned tone.

"I left him on the Bridge, he said he could find his way here." Charles said trying his best not to laugh.

"Oh, god. I should have never left him out my sight." She said trying to hold her laughter in, but failed in a burst of laughing. The rest of the group joined her.

Harkness hit his Comm Badge. "Computer: Locate Captain Reming."

"Captain Reming is on deck 145 Section Blue-Alpha-36."

"Well he got the right section, but is a hundred decks to far down." Harkness managed to say with out laughing.

Commander Reed hit her Comm badge. "Reed to Reming. Captain, you might want to go 100 decks up." She said to the air. And Closed the channel before her captain could say something back.

About 5 minutes later Captain Reming walked in, he was bright red from embarrassment. Harkness smiled as he came in.

He walked up to the podium.

"Excuse me," Harkness said while hitting a glass. Everyone looked towards him.

"Well we are here to celebrate the men and women who were lost over the past few hours. And we also have some announcements. These will good news for Dr. England and Ensign Jenkins." He picked up a PADD. "To Commanding Officer of USS Toronto: Two promotions are to be given, to Dr. England, and Kristina Jenkins. Dr. England, you are hereby given the rank of Lt. Commander. Kristina Jenkins, you are hereby given the Rank of Lt.," Harkness smiled, "Congratulations." He pinned the pips on their collars.

The crowd started to clap, as the 2 walked down.

"People, HAVE FUN, that's an order" Harkness yelled to his crew.

Harkness sat in his command chair looking at the view screen. Larson was to his right, Dubins to the left. March was at ops, Lefler at Engineering, England with her new pips at the medical console. Jenkins sitting at the helm.

"Captain, we are receiving a hail from the Condor." March informed his captain.

"On screen." He ordered.

The screen changed to Captain Reming, and Commander Reed.

"Ah Captain, it's nice to see you again." Said the young Commanding Officer.

"It's nice to see you as well." Harkness said to him. "The Toronto is about ready to get under way."

"The Condor should be able to leave in a few days. Well, I would like to thank you for saving our asses back there."

"It was our pleasure." Charles said back. "Well we have to go now. Hope to see you again Captain. Toronto out." The screen went back to the Condor in orbit around the space station.

Harkness stood up. "Ens? I mean Lt. Jenkins. Plot a course for Starbase 109, Warp 5." He paused for a bit, as he looked at the bridge. "Engage."

He said with a smile.

"Aye sir." She hit a few buttons. The deck shuddered as she went to warp.
